As the delayed Bundesliga season draws to its natural conclusion, and Bayern Munich have claimed their 8th successive league title, we look ahead to this weekend and the final matchday as there’s still a Champions League and relegation play-off spot at stake.

Although Dortmund fell short in their fight to be crowned champions, they and, Red Bull owned, Leipzig are sure of a place in next seasons premier European competition, while local rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen tussle for the last remaining position.

Only Hertha Berlin stand in the way of a return to the Champions League for Mönchengladbach, while Leverkusen will hope to make it successive seasons as they host Mainz. So, what are the bookies predicting for the weekend’s fixtures?

Wolfsburg v Bayern Munich

The Munich machine just keeps rolling on. An 8th successive Bundesliga crown concludes a league season of highs and lows for the Bavarian outfit. Although they have hit form at the right time, it hasn’t been plain-sailing for Hans Flick’s side.

Eleven wins on the bounce since a goalless draw at home to RB Leipzig in February has seen them soar out of reach, and with Wolfsburg already confirmed a Europa League place, Bayern could well be set to finish with a flourish.

Wolfsburg have won just four times at home all season having found goals hard to come by, scoring just 19 goals at the Volkswagen Arena. Unsurprisingly Bayern boasts the best away record in the league having netted 43 times on the road.

Mönchengladbach v Hertha Berlin

Mönchengladbach have bounced back in fine form since being edged out by the newly crowned Champions. They’ve scored three in successive games since as they hosted Wolfsburg and travelled to lowly Paderborn last time out.

Despite only needing a point to secure a return to the Champions League, Die Fohlen look likely to take all three points against a Hertha side languishing in midtable who have won just once in their last four outings.

Dortmund v Hoffenheim

Dortmund have managed to put the disappointment of losing out to Bayern in the Bundesliga race behind them. A crucial win away at third-placed RB Leipzig last time out guaranteed them second place so the pressure is off as they welcome Hoffenheim to the Signal Iduna Park.

With little to play for, both teams can enjoy themselves and look to head into the summer on a high as European football beckons them next season. Dortmund’s potent attack spearheaded by Haaland should be too much for a Hoffenheim who’ve conceded 53 goals in their 33 league games this season.
