The quarter-finals are already upon us. It’s a quick-fire shoot-out between 8 teams over 11 days in Portugal to see who will be crowned champions of Europe.

champions league 2020 fixtures 12-15th August

Having knocked out La Liga Champions Real Madrid, will City finally get their hands on the coveted trophy with Guardiola proving his doubters wrong, will PSG banish their previous Champions League woes to lift the trophy for the first time or could Lyon spring a surprise having dumped out Italian champions Juventus in the round of 16.

With only one leg to play from now on, there’s going to be thrills, spills and plenty of action over the coming days to see who will be crowned the Champions League winners for the 2019-20 season.

Atalanta vs PSG

The underdogs vs the overspenders. Atalanta have lit both the Champions League and Seria A up with their exciting brand of football.

A team full of relative unknowns on a European stage have taken the battle to the elite teams and find themselves in the final 8 of one of the most prestigious club tournaments in the world.

Atalanta managed 98 goals in their 38 league games last season, a staggering record while PSG netted 75 times in 27 Ligue 1 games.

One thing this game shouldn’t lack is goals but will Thomas Tuchel’s star-studded line-up be able to outwit an Atalanta team that will go for the jugular?

Manchester City vs Lyon

Pep Guardiola will be delighted that he not only saw his side into the last 8 but also at the expense of his old arch enemy in Real Madrid.

City are fantastically placed to go on and win the tournament for the first time and although they won’t take a Lyon side that has knocked out Juventus likely, they will be happy with where they are in the draw.

Guardiola’s City team ooze goals. With Sterling, Mahrez and Jesus on the field, all you need is a chance to be created and if there’s one man you’d want to create that chance, it’s Kevin de Bruyne.

Lyon will be far from a walkover though and with the likes of Memphis Depay and Moussa Dembele they themselves will fancy a chance of breaking City’s fragile rear-guard.

RB Leipzig vs Atletico Madrid

Possibly the toughest of the quarter-finals to call. Atletico Madrid are best when they are underdogs but they will head into this game as slight favourites meaning their usual tactic of sitting and frustrating the opposition might not cut it.

Timo Werner will be desperate to sign off from his spell at RB Leipzig on a high, and Julian Nagelsmann’s men will prove difficult opposition for any side in this year’s tournament.

Having lost out to Bayern and Dortmund in the Bundesliga, Leipzig will want to make their presence felt on the biggest stage of all.

However, Atletico will feel they want to get one back on their city neighbours who were knocked out by City and become the latest team from the Spanish capital to reap European success.
