How to Play 3 Card Brag Online?

To play 3 Card Brag, remember that each hand in 3 Card Brag consists of three regular playing cards and the player must start by selecting their initial bet. There are a number of different card combinations that would result in various payouts.  Once the bet has been placed, gameplay then begins with three face-down cards dealt to the dealer and three face-up cards dealt to the player.

There are a number of possible winning combinations and each winning hand is paid out at different levels according to the odds set for the game. The winning hand possibilities include:

  • Three of a kind, in which three of the same number is dealt
  • Running flush, which is three cards of the same suit appear in sequential order
  • Three cards in order, but in different suits

Once the player’s hand has been dealt, the player can evaluate their hand and decide to continue playing with a strong hand or fold with a weak hand. If the player chooses to stay in the game, the dealer’s hand is revealed. Once all cards get revealed, wins get paid out accordingly.

3 cards showing a 3 is the highest scoring combination in 3 Card Brag(three Aces next in line, followed by three kings):

  • In a situation where the dealer doesn’t qualify and your hands are equal value too, it’s a draw and you keep your ante.
  • If the dealer qualifies but your hand is strongest, you win both your Play and Ante bets.
  • You win your Pairs bet if you have a pair or stronger in your hand, regardless of what the dealer holds.

Playing Blind or Betting Without Looking at the Cards:

  • A blind player’s costs are all halved as compared to an open/non-blind player’s. An open player cannot see a blind player.
  • If all other players fold to a blind player, the pot remains, everyone re-antes, and the blind player gets to keep his hand for the next round along with the new one he is dealt.
  • Player with two blind hands may look at one of the cards and decide whether to keep or throw it. If a card is kept, the other hand is thrown away and considered open. If the card is thrown away, the other hand is kept and it remains blind. If everyone folds to a blind player with two hands, the player needs to throw away one without looking.

Tip: To avoid or stop any argument at an important point of the game, before you start a game get 3 card brag rules agreed with every player.

In order to follow the tip let’s get familiarized with rules involved before you play brag online.

What are the Rules for 3 Card Brag Online?

The rules for brag online are nothing different than face to face game.

  • Everyone needs to ante, and players are each dealt three cards face down.
  • Deck is rarely shuffled.
  • There is a single round of the game that moves in a clockwise direction and starts from the left side of the dealer.
  • No order of suits i.e. it is possible for two hands to be equal in rank. In such case the calling player i.e. the player who paid to see the other hand loses.
  • Dealer requires a Queen or better to qualify. If the dealer doesn’t qualify the rules state that the Ante pays double the bet and the Play bet is a push.
  • The player must contribute at least that much more to the pot as the previous bet if any.
  • Betting continues until only two strong players are left, at which point either player may double the previous bet to “see” the opponent. Once two hands are revealed, and the player with the better hand wins the entire pot.

Usually, hands follow the same sequence as the five-card hands of poker besides variation created by the differing odds of a three-card hand. As there are only three cards and three of a kind is a very high-ranked hand, while a straight beats a flush, as three-card flushes are more likely than three-card straights. Here are the full range of probabilities.
