After the last few weeks of exciting Six Nations rugby action, we come to each team’s last matches and despite the fact that it looked like it was all but over, the last matches opened the competition up again in a big way. While we may have to wait for when they will be played out because 2 out of 3 have been postponed, let’s take a look at what to expect when they do happen.

2020 six nations week 5 of 5 fixtues

Scotland V Wales

The only game that is actually currently scheduled to happen this weekend as pre-planned also means the less for the results of the competition but should still be an exciting affair. This is the case as they basically playing for their pride in terms of who finishes above the other.

In the case of Scotland, they have had a particularly successful tournament compared to recent years. They are currently in 3rd position, albeit due to Ireland’s game against Italy being postponed, but after hampering France’s chance for the title in impressive fashion in their last game and having solid results against other teams they were expected to beat, they will be happy with their performance so far and want to cap it off in the right way. For Wales, they have lost 3 out of 4 so far and are second only to Italy for bottom spot.

This is a far cry from what they had hoped for after winning the competition last season. As such, they will want to win here to regain some pride. Wales are being favoured for this with 1/3 being offered by PaddyPower, while 13/5 is being offered  by William Hill and BetVictor.

France V Ireland

In the early weeks of the tournament, this looked like the game to decide it. However, now it looking like the game to decide second place.

France has lost the confident lead that they earned by beating England and Wales in upsets, only to suffer a surprise 11 point loss to Scotland. This means they are now second in the rankings behind England – who will have to lose to Italy to not win now. While Ireland, who have lost just once, have a game in hand against Italy which although it was postponed they should win when it does happen.

This would put them level with France and thus, will be in the exact same position as them. Again, this means that in theory, they could still clinch it permitting a England loss if they won, but this is unlikely. While they will be fighting for second place, they won’t want to lose either as who knows what could happen in the England game, so a win here could be hugely beneficial to their chances of winning outright. As this game is postponed, there aren’t odds available right now.

Italy v England

England have bounced from an early loss in the competition against France that put them on the back foot for much of this year’s 6 Nations.

However, after finding their form with consecutive wins against Scotland, Ireland and Wales, which meant thanks to France’s lost against Scotland, they are leading the competition. Now the competition is theirs to lose as the closest rivals in the tournament, France have a tough final game against Ireland.

While for England, they need a win to clinch and with their next match against Italy, who are as good as full-points confirmed, this should be no issue and it is looking very likely that they won’t be taking home the Six Nations title – which was predicted by the bookies at the start of the competition. Italy have home advantage but after having not picked up a single point so far this year, this looks very unlikely, to say the least. As this game is postponed, there aren’t odds available right now.
